India’s e-rickshaw market has exploded in the last few years, but one thing hasn’t changed — most drivers still struggle with unreliable vehicles, weak batteries, and unpredictable performance. Bajaj Auto wants to change that story with the launch of Bajaj Riki, marking its official entry into the electric rickshaw segment.

Backed by decades of leadership in the 3-wheeler space, Riki brings the engineering quality, safety features, and dependability that drivers have been asking for.

Why Bajaj Launched Riki Now

Post-Covid, India is adding more than 45,000 e-rickshaws every month. They’re the backbone of last-mile mobility, connecting people to metros, buses, and suburban trains. But the category has remained largely unorganised, often leaving drivers with:

  • Poor real-world range
  • Weak chassis durability
  • Harsh mechanical braking
  • Instability and frequent breakdowns
  • Nearly no reliable service support

These issues mean lost earnings, safety risks, and high downtime — something Bajaj aims to eliminate with Riki.

What Makes Bajaj Riki Different

Riki isn’t a quick-entry product. It’s built on driver insights, heavily tested, and supported by one of India’s strongest service networks.

Key strengths:

  • 149 km certified range (P4005) — among the best in the segment
  • Monocoque chassis for rigidity, longer life, and improved safety
  • Independent suspension to reduce toppling risk and improve ride comfort
  • Hydraulic brakes for consistent stopping power in busy traffic
  • Fast charging in 4.5 hours
  • 3-year battery warranty
  • Backed by Bajaj’s nationwide support and spare parts availability

Riki has already been successfully piloted in Patna, Moradabad, Guwahati, and Raipur, and is now expanding to 100+ towns across UP, Bihar, MP, Chhattisgarh, and Assam in Phase 1.

Riki P4005 — Passenger Model

The first model in Bajaj’s new P40 series, the P4005 is built for daily, high-traffic passenger routes.

  • Range: 149 km
  • Battery: 5.4 kWh
  • Price: ₹1,90,890 (ex-showroom)
  • Purpose: Passenger mobility with higher uptime and lower maintenance

Riki C4005 — Cargo Model

For delivery and loading needs, the C4005 brings more capability and earning potential:

  • Certified range: 164 km — the highest in segment
  • Larger cargo tray for better load capacity
  • 28% gradability to handle flyovers and slopes smoothly
  • Price: ₹2,00,876 (ex-showroom)

The combination of higher range, stability, and durability makes it ideal for delivery partners and logistics operators.

Why This Launch Matters

With Riki, Bajaj Auto brings its “Bharose ki Bhagedaari” philosophy into the EV world — something the category has desperately needed. Drivers get safer rides, lower running costs, and dependable uptime. Passengers get comfort and reliability. And India gets a more organised last-mile ecosystem.

As Samardeep Subandh, President of Bajaj’s Intra-City Business Unit, said, the goal is simple: greater earnings for drivers, better safety for passengers, and unmatched reliability for India’s busiest routes.

Bottom Line

Bajaj Riki steps into an unorganised market and immediately raises the bar. With long range, strong engineering, and Bajaj’s service network behind it, Riki has the potential to redefine how last-mile electric mobility works in India.
