GAIL (India) Limited, the country’s leading natural gas company, announced that its Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Pipeline (MNJPL) project is in the final stages and will be fully commissioned by December 31, 2025.
The MNJPL is part of the National Gas Grid (NGG) and has been categorized as a high-impact project under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. Spanning 1,707 km, the pipeline passes through Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
Key Highlights of the MNJPL Project
- 1,707 km long natural gas pipeline connecting major regions.
- Construction completed in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh.
- In Maharashtra, only 11 km remains out of the total length.
- Already, 1,440 km of pipeline is gas-ready.
- Identified by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to serve 17 Geographical Areas (60 districts).

The Board of Directors of GAIL approved the commissioning timeline in its meeting held on September 24, 2025. With construction nearing completion in Maharashtra, the company is confident of achieving full operational readiness by year-end 2025.
