October 6, 2025: Ola Electric, India’s leading two-wheeler EV manufacturer, has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first automotive OEM in India to receive government certification for its in-house developed rare-earth-free ferrite motor.

The certification, granted by the Global Automotive Research Centre, Tamil Nadu, follows rigorous performance and power tests as per AIS 041 standards notified by the Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India.

Ola Electric’s ferrite motor has successfully demonstrated performance on par with conventional rare-earth permanent magnet motors, delivering efficiency, durability, and net power for its 7 kW and 11 kW variants.

This breakthrough allows Ola Electric to reduce dependency on imported rare-earth materials, lower production costs, and stabilize its supply chain—all while enhancing the sustainability and affordability of its EVs.

First unveiled at the company’s annual ‘Sankalp 2025’ event, the ferrite motor is now set to be integrated across Ola’s growing lineup of electric vehicles, bringing high-performance, cost-effective, and eco-friendly mobility solutions to millions of Indian consumers.
