Global IT services leader Coforge Limited has launched its brand-new Data & AI Lab at IIT (BHU), Varanasi, marking a big step in using artificial intelligence for social good.
This initiative, built under a formal MoU between Coforge and IIT (BHU), is part of the company’s CSR commitment to foster innovation, research, and skill-building in AI and Data Science.
A Hub for Innovation and Learning
The Coforge Data & AI Lab, located in the I-DAPT building on the IIT (BHU) campus, spans 980 sq. ft. and is equipped with:
- 32 high-end Apple desktops
- Azure cloud access
- A video conferencing setup
- Curated learning modules through Percipio
Students and researchers can now access a real-world enterprise environment to work on AI and data-driven projects with mentorship from Coforge experts.
AI Projects with Real-World Impact
The lab will kick off with four major projects focused on solving critical social challenges, including:
- AI-assisted cybersecurity to detect vulnerabilities faster
- Assistive reading systems for the visually impaired
- IoT + AI soil monitoring to support sustainable farming
- Cognitive learning research to help children in Varanasi improve math skills using brainwave data
This setup aims to blend academic rigor with industry expertise, encouraging students to apply AI for real-world impact.
Leadership Speaks
Coforge CEO Sudhir Singh said the goal is to empower students with hands-on AI experience to solve real challenges:
