September 16, 2025 – Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that its Heavy Civil Infrastructure business has won a significant order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL). The contract is for mechanical works at the 2×1000 MWe Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (Units 5 & 6) in Tamil Nadu.
Scope of Work
The order covers a wide range of specialized tasks, including:
- Installation of nuclear reactor and turbine systems (with generator and condenser)
- Construction of sea water systems
- Installation of polar and trestle cranes
- Accessories, piping, supports, and structural steelwork
- Painting, anti-corrosion coating, insulation
- Comprehensive testing across multiple buildings and structures

Project Classification
As per L&T’s classification, the contract falls under the “Significant” category, valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore.
