October 15, 2025 — Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd. (KMEW) has officially announced its entry into India’s maritime tourism sector with a landmark project — a luxury river cruise connecting the Statue of Unity in Gujarat and Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh.

The company has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) to build and operate this premium cruise for 20 years, covering an approximately 135 km stretch along the Narmada River between Kukshi (Dhar, MP) and the Statue of Unity.

The LoA was presented during the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart 2025 by Union Minister of Culture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Tourism Minister Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, in the presence of dignitaries and industry leaders.

🌊 Introducing the “River Pearl Cruise”

The upcoming 70-meter twin-hull luxury catamaran, named River Pearl Cruise, will blend modern comfort with sustainability. The project will be completed within 21 months from the LoA date, following the signing of a detailed agreement with MPTB.

Luxury Meets Sustainability

  • 36 deluxe cabins with panoramic river views
  • Fine dining & lounge decks serving Indian and global cuisine
  • Infinity pool, spa, and wellness center
  • Hybrid propulsion system and zero-discharge waste management for eco-friendly operations

This aligns with India’s green tourism vision, promoting low-carbon travel and eco-conscious exploration.

🚢 Cruise Itinerary Highlights (3 Days, 135 km Route)

Day 1: Kukshi – Sakarja
Cultural workshops, ghat ceremonies, and traditional folk performances.

Day 2: Sakarja – Hanfeswar
Temple visits, fitness sessions, village tours, and culinary trails.

Day 3: Hanfeswar – Mokhadi / Statue of Unity

The route connects two spiritual landmarks — the Statue of Oneness at Omkareshwar and the Statue of Unity, offering travelers a unique blend of spiritual, cultural, and nature-based experiences.

💬 KMEW’s Vision for River Tourism

Commenting on the project, Mr. Sujay Kewalramani, CEO of KMEW, said:

“We’re thrilled to embark on this exciting journey into cruise tourism. The River Pearl Cruise represents our dedication to innovation, excellence, and crafting memorable experiences for travelers.”

He added that the company projects ₹800 crore in revenue over 20 years, driven by strong domestic and international interest and the growing daily footfall at the Statue of Unity — now reaching around 30,000 visitors per day.

🌱 Tourism with Purpose

The cruise project is part of the MP Tourism Policy 2025, which emphasizes eco-friendly operations, community involvement, and sustainable development. Under this initiative, KMEW and MPTB aim to:

  • Promote eco-tourism and cultural immersion along the Narmada
  • Generate local employment and support rural livelihoods
  • Improve riverfront tourism infrastructure
  • Introduce both luxury and budget cruise experiences with onshore adventure and wellness programs

With cruise tourism rising globally, KMEW is positioning itself as a pioneer in India’s river cruise market, offering immersive experiences that blend nature, culture, and comfort.
