September 17, 2025 – Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has bagged significant new orders in India and overseas, strengthening its presence in the global grid infrastructure market.
Orders in India
In India, L&T will revamp power distribution in two towns through SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and smart technology integration. The scope includes:
- Upgrading distribution transformer stations
- Converting overhead electrical lines into underground cabling
- Implementing advanced SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control
These upgrades are expected to improve power reliability, efficiency, and safety for consumers.
International Wins
- UAE: L&T has been awarded the design, delivery, and construction of two ±300 MVAr STATCOM systems (Static Synchronous Compensator). These will be installed at existing 400 kV substations to provide dynamic reactive power compensation. STATCOM technology helps stabilize voltage by instantly injecting or absorbing reactive power, ensuring smoother grid operations.
- Oman: The company also secured an order for a 400/132 kV grid station, along with an associated 400 kV transmission line segment, reinforcing its presence in the Middle East power sector.
Why This Matters
Grid stability and resilience are becoming increasingly critical as countries transition to renewable energy sources. L&T’s solutions, such as STATCOM and SCADA systems, enable utilities to handle fluctuating demand and supply, reduce outages, and improve overall power quality.
L&T’s Long-Term Vision
These wins align with L&T’s commitment to building future-ready grid infrastructure that supports both energy transition and sustainability goals.
